Cover for Uganda:
East African Underwriters Ugamed Scheme – there is a basic scheme and a gold scheme, which cover inpatient and outpatient care in Uganda. You can also add on extras, like maternity, travel, and evacuation. Call their offices on 0414 232893.

Cover Worldwide:
East African Underwriters Oraclemed Scheme – this scheme offers international healthcare protection to groups, local nationals and expatriates, and guarantees that they are adequately covered for medical treatment anywhere in the world. Contact Pauline Yawe on 0712 474292.

BUPA – is an international healthcare company, offering different levels of cover and varying areas of cover. Please contact Harsha (Ugandan representative) on 0772 506563.

Allianz – is another international company, offering similar schemes to BUPA at competitive prices.

Companies we bill directly from The Surgery:
There are some insurance companies who we are able to bill directly, which means when you come to see the doctor, you just sign a claim form and your insurer pays us.

For smaller amounts less than 200,000/= UGX ($100 USD or £75 or €75) we would prefer cash or credit card. We will fill in your insurance forms and you can submit them for refund at your convenience.

Some of these companies, especially for travel health insurance, need to send us a Guarantee of Payment before we can bill them, so please contact your insurance company in advance to advise them of your visit to The Surgery.
